FERRO Mari e Monti translates from Italian as “Iron, Sea, Mountains” is a non-competitive cycling event invites participants to enjoy the beautiful coastline and rural landscapes of the Boso Peninsula in Chiba Prefecture on vintage bicycles.

Ride historic bicycles with steel or chromoly frames, or classic-style bicycles, to experience the Japanese cycling culture of yesteryear and the free spirit of Italy.

 

Routes

Choose from routes to suit your fitness level and style, ranging from challenging long and medium routes with their charming undulations to a short, gentle route and a family ride offering peaceful scenery.

 

 

Permitted bicycles

Long and medium routes:

Only vintage or classic-style bicycles. Penny-farthing, track, randonneur, women's, sports and road bicycles are also permitted.

 

Short route / Family route:

Also modern bicycles, carbon frames, carbon wheels and the latest electronic gear systems are permitted.

 

*Bicycles will be checked before departure. If your bicycle does not meet the requirements, you may be asked to switch to the short route or you may be prohibited from participating.

Clothing
We recommend vintage or classic-style clothing.
Have fun with nostalgic styles such as woollen jumpers, old team jerseys, knickerbockers and 70s-80s cycling fashion.

Wear lights, bells and a helmet or protective headgear.
